Engineering Recruiting Services
Our team specializes in recruiting candidates to serve the specific engineering contract recruitment goals of our clients in the tech industry. We do this by thoroughly discovering our clients’ short and long-term needs, as well as the short and long-term aspirations of technical candidates who seek employment. These important details enable TRIAD contract recruitment specialists to source the most appropriate engineering candidates to satisfy each employer’s requirements.
The three types of recruiting services available to technical firms and engineer candidates include:
- Contract Staffing – Our clients use contract staff to help meet tight project deadlines, supply specific technical expertise, cover extended absences of key personnel and handle fluctuations in workload. We source, screen, and refer qualified candidates for firms to consider for their contract openings. Our experts are available when needed, for as long as they’re needed. Client firms gain peace of mind knowing that TRIAD contractors all pass comprehensive reference and educational degree verifications and criminal background checks. Our candidates find that contract assignments allow for diversity in both work environments and experiences. Contract lengths vary, providing opportunity for scheduled periods of time off. Pay rates are highly competitive and many contracts offer the opportunity to work with the latest technology. Contracting is also an ideal way for recent college graduates to gain valuable experience.
- Contract to Direct Staffing – Our clients use this staffing option to evaluate a candidate’s technical performance and personality fit for their firm’s work environment before deciding whether to permanently hire them. Our candidates find the contract-to-direct staffing option appealing because we actively market their skills and offer career options they cannot access elsewhere. Candidates also appreciate the experience of working for a company before deciding on potential direct employment.
- Direct Placement – Our clients value direct placement because we swiftly identify and present only the best-qualified candidates for their consideration for technical direct hire employment openings. As with all of TRIAD’s staffing services, we screen each candidate; verify all references and degrees; and perform criminal background checks prior to hire. Our candidates find direct placement appealing if they are currently working in a permanent role elsewhere. Many of our clients partner exclusively with us to fill their direct hire positions, so their employment opportunities cannot be found elsewhere.
Frequently Asked Questions by Engineers
How do I find the best engineering recruiter to work with?
It is best to work with a recruiter who has years of experience working with engineers in your geographic area. Ask potential recruiters how long their staffing agency has been in business and whether they focus on the city/state in which you want to work. Ask how the recruiter learns of job openings. Often the best recruiters have many repeat clients in various industries for which they place engineers exclusively. These recruiters will be able to present you with opportunities about which you would otherwise not be aware.
What should I look for in an engineering recruiter?
Make sure your engineering recruiter has experience working with engineers who have a similar background as you and has made multiple successful placements in your geographic area. Your recruiter should take time to understand your background and what is important to you in your next professional opportunity. He/she should provide feedback/suggestions on your resume as necessary, and should fully explain the opportunities currently available.
What are the benefits of working with an engineering recruiter?
Your engineering recruiter will have access to job openings not posted elsewhere. Many of our clients ask us to conduct confidential searches and do not advertise on their own. Also, it is often beneficial to have someone negotiating on your behalf when an offer is being considered.
How do you effectively work with recruiters?
It’s important to be communicative with your recruiter. When in an active job search check in often and make sure to return calls/emails promptly. This way you won’t miss out on attractive opportunities. Also, be upfront and honest with your recruiter about your career goals, motivations, and other opportunities you may be pursuing separate from those presented by your recruiter.
What makes a good engineering recruiter?
Proven experience placing engineers with a similar background is key. Engineering can be intricate and a recruiter who usually works with other types of professionals won’t have the resources to make the best match for you. A recruiter specializing in engineering will also have many contacts among hiring managers in the engineering field. These contacts can be crucial, resulting in opportunities where there may not be an official opening.
Should you work with more than one staffing agency?
You certainly can, although it may be confusing and time-consuming to keep track of conversations and potential opportunities with multiple agencies. If you are currently out of work and need to find work quickly perhaps interview 2-3 staffing agencies / recruiters to potentially work with. If you are currently working and more of a passive job seeker it may make sense to work with one staffing agency for a few weeks and if not satisfied move on to another agency.
How do recruiters get paid?
If you are successfully placed on a direct hire basis the company hiring you pays the recruiter a percentage of your annual salary.
Why do companies hire recruiters?
Companies work with recruiters for many reasons. Often, it is to take advantage of a recruiter’s expertise in networking and identifying talent in the company’s specific industry. Often, the best candidates are those who are working and not necessarily searching for a new position. An effective recruiter will provide a company access to talent they would not otherwise have. Also, many companies use recruiters as they prefer to conduct confidential searches for mid- to senior-level positions.
How long will it take to find a job using an engineering recruiter?
That depends on your experience and skillset, as well as your goals for your next position. The engineering job market is quite active, and many qualified engineers can find a new job within a couple of months.
Do I interview with the recruiter before interviewing with the company?
You will certainly have a lengthy phone interview (or several) with the recruiter so he/she may fully understand your prior positions, skills, and career goals. Whether you also meet in-person with the recruiter depends on your proximity to the recruiter’s office, among other factors.

Frequently Asked Questions by Companies
Why do companies use staffing agencies?
Companies use staffing agencies to gain quick, reliable access to highly qualified, pre-screened candidates for short and long-term positions. TRIAD Engineering Corp. is a staffing agency that specializes in recruiting and placing engineers and other technical job seekers with companies seeking professionals from all engineering disciplines, including electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, quality, test, automation, systems, chemical, structural and civil. TRIAD offers a full range of contract, contract-to-direct, and direct hire engineering staffing services that enable employers to meet their staffing needs.
What are the benefits of staffing agencies?
Staffing agencies benefit client firms by allowing them to focus their time and efforts on conducting their primary business, while the staffing agency sources, screens, and refers highly qualified candidates to fill each client’s needs. Staffing agencies spend considerable time nurturing talent networks, providing clients access to passive candidates – those who are not actively looking for a new opportunity and won’t see positions posted online. These passive candidates often prove to be the best and most qualified candidates for client open positions.
Am I obligated to keep a contractor for a particular amount of time?
No, although as a professional courtesy to the contractor we hope that you will provide as much notice as possible as a contract is ending, you are under no obligation to provide advanced notice.
Is the placement guaranteed?
Direct hire placements are guaranteed for a period of time sufficient to ensure the engineer is a great fit for the role, after which time there is no longer a guarantee.
Is there a refund policy for direct hire placements?
The overwhelming majority of our placements are very successful; however, should you determine that the placement is not ideal we have a refund policy prorated over several months.
Does a recruiter check references?
We always speak with professional references for our candidates. These are former managers/supervisors who can speak to the candidate’s technical abilities as well as his/her “soft skills”.
Do recruiters perform background checks?
We perform criminal and other background checks on all placements prior to the start of work. This includes federal and county-level checks, SSN traces, degree/licensure verifications, and more.
What are my costs if I use a recruiter to find a contractor?
You will pay an hourly rate, inclusive of your entire monetary obligation with respect to the contractor. We pay payroll taxes, federal and state unemployment insurance, workers compensation, sick time, and provide various benefits.
How do you recruit to find engineers?
Having been in business for 50 years we have a robust database of engineers with whom we’ve worked or interviewed. Our database is a great place for us to start networking when we receive a new opening. Networking and referrals are our most common method of finding talented engineers, who typically aren’t actively seeking a new job.
