Our client is seeking a Civil / Construction Project Manager to work remotely, with occasional regional travel. Our client owns and/or operates dozens of hydroelectric facilities and is currently seeking a project manager to join their civil engineering team. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience and preference will be given to candidates with power generation experience. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to perform a broad range of work tasks with support from other engineering and operations staff. The anticipated responsibilities for this role are presented below.
Responsibilities will include:
• Work as part of a team of professional engineers responsible for working on large capital projects, outage response, and updating aging infrastructure.
• Oversee the preparation of engineering documentation to make improvements and to rehabilitate civil and water-retaining structures.
• Coordinate with procurement and the legal team to get contracts in place for all work
• Oversee planning and provide direction to contractors and vendors for large capital projects
• Oversee project implementation and ensure projects are completed on-time and on-budget
• Make periodic inspections of work to ensure job is being performed in accordance with standard plans and specifications, adherence to the schedule, and the contract details
• Direct contractor and other resources to execute projects and be a resource if site conditions dictate a change to the work scope
Background profile:
• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, construction technology, or related field
• 3+ years’ experience related to overseeing full scope of construction work and services
• Experience in the hydroelectric field is a plus
• Strong technical background with a demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize a wide array of civil projects (working with water-retaining structures is a plus)
• Knowledge of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) regulations is a plus
• Travel as required for project supervision and execution (~30%)
Desired skills:
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products, project management software, and scheduling software, AutoCad
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Project and process management skills including, strong negotiation skills, budget development and adherence, and the ability to read technical drawings and specifications
• Critical thinking and analytical skills and strong organizational skills
• Ability to perform work in the field and at the facilities which may include
• The ability to climb ladders and to be a heights
• The ability to traverse uneven ground and steep slopes
• The ability to pivot and positively react to quick changing situations during critical times for project advancement
• The ability to work on or near water
