Lead Systems Integration & Test Engineer

Our client is seeking a Lead Systems Integration & Test Engineer to join their successful team. This individual will serve as the technical lead to design, build and commission special purpose test equipment. This role is responsible for coordinating with internal customers to generate equipment specifications and working with design experts and external partners to ensure the timely delivery of test equipment. The Lead Systems Integration & Test Engineer serves as resource in guiding other engineers (electrical and software) while considering the needs of interfacing subsystems.

Responsibilities will include:

• Work with multidisciplinary teams to develop test equipment integration and control requirements
• Create, maintain and communicate project schedules and mitigate risks to ensure timely completion
• Design system process flow diagrams P&ID and model/analyze fluid piping systems
• Generate test system documentation including risk assessments (what-if or FMEA), equipment operating procedures, instrument calibration and maintenance requirements
• Select or approve final control elements and instrumentation: pumps, valves, regulators, flow controllers, heat exchangers, flow and temperature instruments and pressure transducers
• Work collaboratively with engineering teams to optimize equipment designs for integration and test
• Lead test station commissioning activities and provide engineering support to technicians during equipment failure investigations and troubleshooting activities

Background profile:

• Bachelor or MS of Science in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrochemical Engineering preferred)
• 6+ years engineering experience with emphasis on testing of electrical and mechanical systems

Skills and abilities:

• Solid grounding in engineering fundamentals: fluid dynamics, heat & mass transfer, electrochemistry, electrical theory, thermodynamics, chemistry, and materials
• Creative problem solving/troubleshooting skills and ability to think objectively
• Experience working both independently and in team contexts, comfort with a rapid development pace and capability to multitask
• Strong sense of accountability, exceptional interpersonal/communication skills and ability to influence others
• High level of versatility and interest to work with test equipment, including: fuel cell/fuel cell engine test stations, analytical instruments, and electrochemical diagnostics
• Experience with and ability to learn complex mechanical and electrical product systems and test equipment
• Experience with 3D CAD and piping system modeling software such as Pipe-Flo.
• Familiarity with data acquisitions systems and process/test stand automation
• Experience working in a regulated industry and familiar with establishing means of compliance
• Basic knowledge and facility with mechanical and electrical systems, e.g. tube-bending and Swagelok fittings, electrical wiring, and engineering instrumentation
