Manufacturing NPI Engineer

Our innovative and growing client is seeking a Manufacturing NPI Engineer to join their team. This individual will function as a working lead within the product development teams representing manufacturing in execution of World Class Lean Manufacturing Processes, Systems, Products and Equipment. Incumbent will be responsible for planning, execution and project team leadership to launch our client’s next generation products ensuring business objectives are met as they transition products into manufacturing attending to Key Performance Indicators in safety, quality, schedule, cost and customer experience.

Responsibilities will include:

• Lead efforts to ensure Design for Manufacturing, Test and Assembly are incorporated in product design. Accountable for risk assessment, prototype and validation strategy and execution as well as guiding sub-team execution.
• Provide project/program management planning and team leadership responsible for effective outcomes, management/sponsor communications and status updates. Owner of manufacturing plan through product release gate phases.
• Function as working lead designing, solving or guiding solutions in process, equipment or product strategies and execution while coordinating integration with production leveraging existing automation and infrastructure where appropriate
• Optimize production quality and throughput by establishing and maintaining the following tools: Value Stream Map, PFMEA, Control Plan, Cell Layout, Process Automation, SOPs – build and test, and performance metrics on existing products and Lean Manufacturing and DFT.
• Lead the resolution of production, test, and field assembly related issues and act as the technical liaison between design, assembly, test, and supply chain.
• Create and/or verify data between and within data management systems (SPC, DMR, Agile, etc.) and ensure scope of ECO / MCO (Manufacturing Change Order) is correctly executed from prototype through release.

Background profile:

• BS in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering required
• 10 + years of relevant industry experience
• 5+ years’ supporting factory operations and in the application of Lean Manufacturing tools
• 5+ years’ experience leading projects and sub-team execution

Special skills, experience and abilities:

• Experience specifying and / or supporting new manufacturing processes and equipment strongly desired
• Demonstrated successes in leading teams and projects through product life cycle
• Manufacturing process development and validation, including establishment of quality requirements and implementation plans
• Electromechanical Product Development within a structured Phase Gate system
• Ability to implement and train others in use of DFT or other Lean tools
• Experience in 8D, 6 Sigma, or other standard problem-solving methodologies
• Comprehensive understanding of Manufacturing documentation and ISO 9000 requirements
• Proficient in configuration management and product structures including BOM
• Working knowledge of Excel, Word, AutoCAD, Solid Works, and Visio
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with multiple and changing priorities
• Ability to work and communicate effectively across all levels of the company and influence stake holder decisions and buy in
