Mix Room Lead

Our well-established client, a leader in the adhesive market, is seeking an experienced manufacturing leader, with excellent leadership, communication, and planning skills, to lead and manage their Mix Room work center. In this role you will oversee the team to set up, operate, and tend to machines to mix and blend chemical raw materials into high-performance chemical adhesives. Top candidates will be upstanding, organized, and safety conscious.

Responsibilities will include:

• Manage, schedule, have the ability to work in and with all functions in Mix Room work areas
• Directly supervise and lead 5-7 people, including training, development and performance of staff
• Plan and execute manufacturing cell’s TWO week production and coordinate with production planner
• Oversee the mixing of compounds for precision mixed, frozen, and pretested adhesives and oversee appropriate operation and maintenance of mixers, ovens, and other equipment
• Responsible for accurate batch sheet administration and retaining sample collection for laboratory testing.
• On occasion, the Lead may directly contribute to the blending of raw materials into finished goods.
• Maintain and 5S lean manufacturing practices, and participate in planning and improvement initiatives
• Coordinate with other work center leads and supply chain resources
• Document processes to minimize scrap and rework and improve material yield; update work instructions
• Coordinate and ensure appropriate training levels for all mix team members
• Ensure immediate response, coordination, and corrective actions for NCMR and Corrective Actions
• Reports to Director of Operations

Background profile:

• 2+ years of experience managing people or projects
• 5+ years engineering and process control of reactive adhesive systems, and familiarization with managing operations with high product mix and short cycle time
• 5+ years of experience managing planning activities, or direct supervision of production operations
• 4+ years of experience in an ISO-9001-certified manufacturing company
• Excellent Microsoft Office proficiency including Word, Excel, and Access, and the ability to solve problems with them
• 5+ years working with an MES/ERP system
• Critical thinking and structure problem solving methods, with excellent organizing skills and discipline
• Preferred: Experience with 5S and Lean Manufacturing principles, as well as Six Sigma Training
• Ability to lead, train and motivate up to seven people
• Ability to coordinate training and resources to ensure manufacturing cell meet production requirements and exceed company’s key performance metrics
• Ability to recognizing areas for improvement and coordinate resource to improve team’s performance
• ERP systems knowledge and ability to plan work according to resources, skills, and priority
• Pro-active, analytical problem solver, able to understand the big picture and make data-driven suggestions for improvement
• Read and interpret engineering drawings; ability to suggest and coordinate engineering changes
• ESD training and contamination control training
• Driven and motivated, with excellent organization and communication skills
• Emotionally intelligent, able to resolve issues directly with others, willing to receive feedback
• Positive contributor to overall company culture
