Our client is seeking a Plating Manager / Supervisor who will lead and oversee their plating department. In this role you will be responsible for the efficient and compliant operation of the plating processes. This role requires the selected candidate to have ability to handle chemicals and potentially hazardous materials while maintaining the highest of safety standards and remaining environmental conscious.
Additional Responsibilities and Requirements
• Proven experience (5+ years) in a plating, ideally in a management/supervisory position, specifically with electroplating gold, nickel, and silver onto metal parts.
• Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to establish and maintain plating parameters that meet product specifications.
• Ability to plan and guide the electroplating process for gold, copper, nickel, and silver, ensuring efficient and consistent plating of metal parts.
• Implement lean manufacturing principles and process improvement initiatives.
• Manage the inventory and usage of plating chemicals, ensuring proper handling, storage, and disposal in compliance with regulations.
• Conduct regular audits and inspections to verify adherence to safety and environmental protocols.
• Implement and enforce rigorous quality control measures to ensure plated products meet the highest quality standards.
• Conduct periodic inspections and tests to verify plating thickness, adhesion, and overall quality.
• Maintain appropriate records for chemical usage and waste disposal.
• Generate reports on plating department performance, quality metrics, and compliance status.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of plating processes and procedures.
• Foster a strong safety culture within the plating department, ensuring all employees adhere to safety protocols and use protective equipment.
• Conduct safety training and promote safety awareness among team members.
• Familiarity with Massachusetts licensing and environmental compliance requirements for plating operations including Federal, State, and local compliance (OSHA, DEP, EPA, TURA, TRI, WWTF Permit).
